where would i find that? I have windows 10 i just have the movie in my downloads and i watch it with my default Films and TV. So should i download the VLC player? Where do I find it?

You can find VLC player here. Just can then right click on your video in the downloads folder and select "open with". Then select VLC media player. It is a more versatile player than the default Windows player. I would recommend you playing most videos with VLC. Hope that helps.

thank you for all the help! It worked! I just need one more thing, I'm not sure if you do this but I edit videos, like fan trailers. The video won't play audio in my editing software, is there some way to save the movie again from the VLC media player, so that I could have audio? Sorry for the trouble

I had the same problem. I re-encoded the audio track from AAC 7.1 to AC3 5.1 with ffmpeg (3.1.4).

You can get ffmpeg at https://ffmpeg.org/download.html. It's a command line tool.

Anyways, I made a copy of the mkv and pasted it in the same folder where ffmpeg.exe is. I renamed my file to drive.mkv to keep things simple.

in FFMPeg I typed in

ffmpeg -i drive.mkv -c:v copy -c:s copy -c:a ac3 -map 0 drive2.mkv

It comes with K-Lite codec pack: https://www.codecguide.com/download_k-lite_codec_pack_mega.html

Just press "MIRROR 1" and download it, then install it.

just press next to everything if you don't understand a thing, and after it installs you will have the "MEDIA PLAYER CLASSIC" (MPC-HC)

That's all you have to do, also you should always install the k-lite codec pack everytime you format your pc, it is a must have! :D
