[Meta] Status of Imported Data? | Megalinks MegaDB [Meta] Status of Imported Data?

Is imported accounts/data confiscated when the original is? Or does it last longer?

Was just wondering if I should bother importing stuff, or it will go down with the original link. Thanks!

Depends on the takedown method requested.

Disable = link is disabled, files remain on accounts

Removal = file is removed completely, including anywhere it was imported to

Importing is still useful for when an uploader deletes their account or deshares the link for whatever reason. It's still better to download it as soon as you can though.

it's not completly true, In my post R1+BNS.DSC , the link was taken down. now the new link is the backup that i created before. you can see the link is working.

Were you able to download the original taken down file from your account while logged in?

I'm on a semi-private website that has had links up for a year or two already. The files are way too large for me to download all of them, though it would be nice to have them on backup accounts if something goes wrong. I doubt the accounts would be willingly deleted for whatever reason.

How does one get on such a website?

40gb per video though... I don't think it's worth the trouble for me lol.

On a separate note, there's a easy way on linux to change the hash, but I can't seem to remember it right now.

I had a group of files that I wanted later. I imported them to my paid Mega account, renamed all of the files to random digits, made a new folder (also randomly named), and moved the files into the new folder. When I went to download them four days later they were no longer available to download. I think that this must have been the file removal type action you are describing. My file subterfuge could not prevent the inevitable.

Being "the same file" (with regards to removal) has nothing to do with names. It has to do with the hashing, which only will change if you actually change the file, which you can only do after downloading it. Just FYI.

I wasn't aware that there were two different types of requests. Is this speculation on your part, or do you know it for certain?

Those are the options listed on the takedown form:

https://mega.nz/copyrightnotice

Takedown type:

  1. Disable one link ("URL") per file - the file(s) will remain the user's account

  2. Disable multiple URL's per file - the file(s) will remain the user's account

  3. Remove all underlying file(s) of the supplied URL(s) - there is no user who is permitted to store this under any circumstance worldwide

I think the best way is upload the files compressed in parts .zip with password and don't use the original link, use a copy, and generating link from a folder not from the file.

I've done that they just take down a few rars to piss you off then you reup them & they kill them all

Then, if I decide to only share the image encrypted by megadowloader will the links taken down?
