May I ask what the difference is between x264-AVS and x265-BvS is? One is significantly smaller.

x264 is an AVC encoder and x265 is an HEVC encoder. HEVC is a more modern and advanced codec and is capable of producing high definition video at a fraction of the size of AVC, but it has yet to see widespread adoption as of yet. Your computer should be able to play it with VLC or a similar program, but if you stream to set-top boxes or try watching it on your phone with the built-in media player, it may not be supported.

All of that said, 200mb is way too small for a 40-minute 720p file—especially for a show like The Walking Dead, which uses a ton of film grain which is difficult to compress. The encoders who release x265 on the day a program airs tend to starve bitrate, resulting in horrible quality videos. If I recall correctly, x265 is capable of reducing file sizes by maybe 40-50% at best while maintaining the same quality of an equivalent x264 encoded video.

TL;DR | Megalinks MegaDB TL;DR x265 is a newer, more efficient video codec, but it's not widely supported, and 200mb is way too small for a 40-minute show, resulting in horrible quality.

I looked at it and its actually really impressive if you consider its only 200MB. If the Bitrate was a little better it would be pretty much perfect. Definitely a great option for people like me with very slow Internet.

Also, if you have a computer that is many years old, the CPU might not be fast enough to play x265. I think PotPlayer might be a bit more efficient than VLC for playing x265. On my budget computer from 2010, x265 videos will almost play without stuttering with PotPlayer.
