Your title sounds like an ad parody.

"Books. Historically, the most valuable medium man has created. But, do people actually read them? A recent study shows that the strongest indicator of a book's popularity is not its contents, but rather its aesthetics."

I suggest these ten to begin with.

Orwell, George - 1984

Huxley, Aldous - Brave New World

Bradbury, Ray - Fahrenheit 451

Wells, H.G. - The Island Of Dr. Moreau

Verne, Jules - Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea

Dick, Philip K. - Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep

Adams, Douglas - Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy

Card, Orson Scott - Ender's Game

Gibson, William - Neuromancer

Herbert, Frank - Dune

Special pick is Hogan, James P. - Inherit The Stars. The author was a bit of a nutjob irl but this series was very thought provoking and written well imo.

Started this last year and got distracted & set it aside.

Dl'd the Dark Tower comic series & was completely blown away...

I garden so am now listening to the series, am on book 4, Wizard and Glass, which is my fav so far.

The series is unlike anything else I've read. Highly recommend.

I have to confess that I actually bought the book three months ago, I have't started it yet.

All here suggest great books (the hell, the whole compilation is about great books, but for an introduction to oldschool Scifi I will go for Asimov, father of the 3 rules of robotics btw. Start with Nighfall (30pages) to start opening your mind (is his best short story), then follow it up with I am Robot (forget about the movie) and then blow your mind with the Foundation trilogy. Is so good that you will want to continue reading the limits of the foundation and Foundation and Earth (for me easier to read than the trilogy, better written and with a mind blowing story).

Did you miss star wars books?

[-] achimba | 2 points | Mar 10 2017 23:48:16

I never read any Star Wars books. I just investigated on Wookieepedia (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_books) and there are so many of them. I do not know where to begin!

If you can find and upload all of the John Steinbeck novels, I'd be forever grateful.
