About this release: The Thief and the Cobbler had a long and troubled production history. After budget and deadline issues, the project was eventually taken away from its creator (legendary animator Richard Williams), hurriedly 'finished' by a different studio with subpar animation, and released in 1993 in a heavily re-edited form. The Recobbled Cut is a fan restoration by Garrett Gilchrist aiming to present Richard Williams's original vision as much as possible, using a variety of sources including workprints. Due to this there are some parts which will look unfinished.
