Currently this HDTV release by Judgment is the best available version of this film due to all the issues the blurays had. ~~I hear he is working on a second version, so if I ever get ahold of that I'll swap this out with it.~~

Note: second version by Judgment is complete and supersedes this one, please see the new post. | Megalinks MegaDB Note: second version by Judgment is complete and supersedes this one, please see the new post.

Can you help me with the order you are supposed to watch this series?

permalink

[-] Mortos3 | 3 points | Feb 12 2017 14:31:09

Well there's no required order, and the various incarnations are not strictly connected, but I suppose if you placed them chronologically it would be something like:

-1995 film

-Stand Alone Complex

-Innocence

-Stand Alone Complex: 2nd GIG

-Stand Alone Complex: Solid State Society

I'd still rather watch it in the chronological order. Thanks a lot.

Don't quote me on it of course, that's just a rough ordering based on the given years that each story takes place in.

Mortos is kinda wrong, btw.

1995 film and its 2004 sequel Innocence are in the same universe.

Then you have Stand Alone Complex series, then 2nd Gig equal series, then the Solid State Society film in a separate universe with their own characterizations and styles.

Then you have the Arise anime series, which sucks and should be avoided.

You could categorize them that way, especially given the directors and styles. But I'm not sure how what I said is incompatible with what you're saying.

Dear Mortos3, thanks for your awesome uploads, all of them! Is this one the Judgment version or the Judgment filter version? Not an expert but the screenshots from the filter version seems better. The PSNR 720p one looks great too, except for screenshot 6, with the fast moving.

If this is Judgment, where can I get the filtered version, if it is even available?

I believe the filter is the new version he's working on, which as far as I know isn't released yet. I agree it looks better though.

Here are some comparison screenshots. The Bluray has a lot of cropping and loss of detail. HDTV struggles with fast moving scenes as can be seen in screenshot #6, but given the other factors I think it still wins over the Bluray overall.

Some comments here where they discuss it as well.

Too bad it'll never be re-released since the awful 2.0 remastered version is suppose to replace it. Is there a release with the english dub? I tend to prefer the dub in older anime

The dual audio releases I could find are all taken from the Bluray.
