[Question] How to edit video thumbnails and how to edit grouped video files? | Megalinks MegaDB [Question] How to edit video thumbnails and how to edit grouped video files?

How do people edit the thumbnails on their video files? So that when I look at my season 1 of Game of Thrones all the episodes have the same thumbnail https://walter.trakt.tv/images/seasons/000/003/963/posters/thumb/1834978783.jpg?

Also what software, if any, do you use to edit grouped files? So I can add information to each video, such as Director, Writers, Publishers etc. Without having to do them all indivually.

The matroska multimedia container (.mkv) video thumbnails are rendered by the hosting computer's file explorer if not otherwise specified.

The mkv format is made of 9 different layers, one of them being an attachment layer that can have cover art.

This layer can be edited without re-encoding through a multiplexing tool like mkvtoolnix.

I use iTunes to change the thumbnails, it's pretty easy. It doesn't work for mkv files though.

Most of my videos are mkv, unfortunately.

It reminds me of Plex

you can change the container of your video from mkv to m4v assuming it is h264. After that, there are plenty of applications to edit metadata.

Its dumb easy if you own a mac, but there are also some pretty straight forward pc apps.

I use MetaX. It automatically tags up most video formats (including mkv) and adds a cover thumbnail.
