I haven't seen this before. The actual link is in the file. I like it.

I'll gladly give you the extra 2bits back for a correct aspect ratio instead!
... and why introduce distracting compression tearing for the sake of saving 1GB on a file that'll be replaced come March when the blu-ray drops?

I didn't encode it

Why bother?

Sigh, the source is a DVD, there is no reason to encode it in 10-bit-per-channel color.
This is audiophile-level stupidity.

But 10bit is better than 8bit even when the source is <= 8 bits.

Both of those sources are laughably bad. The first is from a company that sells 10-bit encoding and decoding equipment. The second is from an individual who deliberately introduces dithering into their source video...

That's like dismissing intel whitepapers because the company sells a product. ATEME is one of the largest in the field and does a ton of software work and codec research as well . Here is a more detailed report http://x264.nl/x264/10bit_01-ateme_pierre_larbier_422_10-bit.pdf
Even if the source is Blu-ray, its still only an 8bit source. Are you saying 10bit releases of BRRips are also stupid?

Please don't compare them to Intel. You know it's snakeoil when they compare 4:2:0 8-bit S/N with 4:2:2 10-bit S/N. Of course 4:2:0 is going to be noisier, it's half the resolution in one of the channels.
The difference that they're selling is due to the more modern codec and better spacial sampling settings, not bit depth.
If the source is 8-bit and you use the same codec and the same sampling factor, you will get identical output whether you select 8-bit or 10-bit. Of course you're going to get superior output if you use a more modern codec and better spacial sampling.

It's just marketing buzz words used by the encoders.
