Hi guys, just stumbled on this sub and noticed the amount of protection users place on accessing the files, which made me wonder if you guys use VPNs to cover your tracks. THanks!
For the millionth fucking time;
If you use public torrents without a VPN, you will be caught. Anybody claiming to have not been has been nothing more than lucky.
Unless you're uploading terabytes of material, you're not going to prison.
It's unlikely you'll ever be caught downloading from mega even without a VPN. It's cost prohibitive of law enforcement with minimal results and mega deletes any files found to be infringing.

How many fucking times are people going to ask this? There's a search bar. Use it.
It's literally every day now.
A lot of new users, likely due to screeners from award season I guess. Some of the questions on posts are pretty ridiculous. I mean, it is fine if you do not have basic knowledge of computers or mega, but how hard is it to search the sub or google search for an answer? I read one today where the person was frustrated and confused because when they clicked the post title it kept taking them to the comments no matter how many times they clicked it. I just pictured them clicking it for hours. This time maybe it will go to mega! lol.
The protection is to prevent the files being taken down, not to cover tracks.
I've been thinking of getting one but only for torrents because I have a 3GB seedbox and there's stuff out there I would like to get at higher file sizes. Also, uploading & downloading to & from MEGA is as safe as using Google Drive as long as you rename the files and not make it so dang noticeable.

I use one just for the sake of using one, might as well. But I have had a run in with the law when that Digital Mallenium Law came into pass by Obama back in 2009, Comcast sold me out, but since it was one video they never Paramount had bigger fish to fry. It was using torrents, which is why I no longer use them
Interesting to hear, thanks for sharing! Now you mainly download mega files?

only from mega, or just straight from the streaming site

unlike torrents, companies don't really hit ISP (ie you) with shit from websites. everyone can see everyones ip with torrents, you know as like thats how they work. unless they going to raid mega (again) your like 99.999% fine.

Just as an FYI, ISP stands for internet service provider, that means Comcast, Time Warner, Google, or whoever is selling you your internet subscription.. it's not "you".

No shit. the only reason an ISP will send you an email about torrenting "this" movie, is because the movie studio makes them, as they can see all the ip's of the downloaded torrent

Yeah, no, I agree, I meant what I said because of
ISP is the company, not you.
