like this amazing post just the other day: https://www.reddit.com/r/megalinks/comments/5l9aj2/tv/
I'm wondering how? I personally have been using the free netflix downloader (before it was taken down to the public, still works I may add) but wasn't sure how everyone is doing amazon prime or even if hulu was possible.

Would you be able to upload the netflix downloader?

thanks a lot, how to you change the default download quality to get HD? i dont see any option to switch to a higher quality and it seems to be downloading in SD (480)

It's says I need an app to use it? What app do I download I'm on mobile
[-] swedish_drems | 1 points
Everyone looking for higher than SD quality read this!
The only current way to rip from Netflix requires 2 jail broken iOS devices, in maximum 480p. I'm not sure if this automates it or just checks a database but at the current time the most vulnerable (and only cracked currently) encryption only feeds 480p video. Everything higher is cap or a privately made crack

It can actually look a lot better due to a higher bitrate. You can see the difference by finding a 4k YouTube video and switching back and forth between 4k and 1080p. Many "media" computers can't play 4k though. It's a huge amount of data!
[-] eightballthrowaway | 3 points
If you watch 4k on a 1080p< computer monitor it just looks sort of grainy, like you can tell it's SUPPOSED to be high quality but it's so high quality your screen can't really tell. I'm not sure if TVs of similar resolutions can downscale so it might have the same effect.
[-] swedish_drems | 1 points
It downscales to the best of its ability. I don't know how tv's act around it but in my experience on a 1080p MacBook w/ vlc, 4K looks more pixelly than 1080p purely because the downscaling ruins the smoothness and/or some other things

Sooooooo, anyone have free netflix downloader installation files to share? :)
[-] halolordkiller3 | 1 points
(Looks through old posts here)
[-] Monoraptor | 1 points
Did that before posting. Only result that came up for 'free netflix downloader' in this subreddit was this thread.

There's a link (I'm mobile at the moment) check one of the comments

WEBRIP:
Re-encoded --> Recorded/captured from web video stream Network logos & on-screen ads Sometimes include abrupt transitions (due to commercial breaks) Higher occurrence of artifacts, frame skips, audio sync, and picture issues (due to captured source & commercial splits.)
WEB-DL:
Untouched --> Source file from online distribution website (remuxed/not re-encoded) No logos or ads No abrupt transitions (no commercial breaks like blu-ray) Low to no occurrence of quality issues (similar in quality to blu-ray)

No! This is undoubtedly incorrect but a very common misconception.
WEBDl: Any source that is downloaded to a drive before stripped of drm/decrypted (I.e. iTunes)
WEBRip: Any source directly taken from a live stream this can only be done via a downloader of some sort, any screen recording device would be considered WEBCap. Thus cannot have pop up ads or otherwise, the advertisements would have to be a part of the original video, which in today's world isn't often for online video(Examples of WEBRip's would be most YouTube dlers, they take the sources, dl them and mux the chosen ones together)
WEBCap: Any source from a web based app ripped via a screen capture app or device. This allows for pop up ads or GUI interference
Edit: Quality wise, WEBRip and WEBCap can be better than WEBDl depending on source, but the wide variety of sources and encoders make WEBDl a more viable source as it has a quality standard whereas all others are ripper dependant
Edit 2: WEBDl wise there is hardly any other sources for it besides iTunes and iTunes has many many errors. Most files have a 1916x1076 resolution or even less, they are all riddled with noise (search up bluray to WEBDl noise comparison on YouTube) and have some other errors

Ok all good, again it's a very common misconception which leads to a lot of mislabelling...

That's for scene specific releases btw. A super strict and unnecessary set of rules. The definitions I stated were based on experience more than anything, what I said was what I label my (few) releases. Reading through those scene rules just makes me hate them more. IMO the rules I stated make more sense than the scene ones anyway.

Ah Scene Rules. A few things to note: Most of the WEB-Rips I see are 1:1... no re-encoding, not captures either. They are the direct stream rip, possibly remuxed. WEB-Rips can be re-encoded, and so can WEB-DLs. I've seen WEB-DLs that are re-encoded and WEB-Rips that are raw.
WEB-DLs almost always come from iTunes, unless another DRM has been cracked. If this a show was officially released on Youtube (for some reason) and someone were to download that LOSSLESSLY, it would be a WEB-Rip. If someone were to download that and re-encode it (or download it through one of those crappy download+"convert" websites), it would still be considered a WEB-Rip.
Edit: fun fact almost no one besides the people who made and signed the rule follow scenerules... just look for once at 90% of all BDrips, which they state must be in the neighborhood of 23gb... I didn't know that 700mb was in the neighborhood of 23gb -.-

Wouldn't say a web-dl is similar in quality to bluray but it's definitely very good quality. Blurays usually have zero visible compression artefacts while web-dls might still have some because their bitrate is much lower (but still pretty high).

RIP is something that is ripped.. as in captured. DL is something that has directly been downloaded.

Video Source -> HDMI Splitter -> HDMI Capture
It's more complicated due to HDCP and post processing but that is basically how it is done. 10/10 would not recommend due to complexity and cost

I appreciate the explanation. I had been curious about some Amazon only content that I was hoping would find its way online, but I don't think it warrants pursuing giving the HDCP. Thanks!
