I'm watching it now and honestly I'm on the verge of gouging out my own eyes and putting super glue in my ears, after about 10 minutes.
Eric Idle used to be a comedy genius. Right now it seems he has an elderly choreographer called Arlene Phillips on speed dial. She did the song and dance shit that polluted the Python live shows from 2014. There are similar interruptions in this show. They are stale, overlong and pointless.
Brian Cox and Robin Ince do a science & skepticism radio talk show called Infinite Monkey Cage. It's great. Very loosely scripted and improvised.
This however is rigid, miserable, stale bullshit, with a script written by a committee of dead people. It's like watching a dead body being inflated and then as it deflates it blows the air out through one of those paper party noise-makers that unroll.

I'm going to assume from your general tone that said party blower is stuck in the corpse's anus... eugh. Huge Monkey Cage fan, d/ling with trepidation.
I love Python and the majority of Eric Idle's work...
Who doesn't love Warwick Davis?
Noel Fielding — scattershot genius
Robin Ince paired with Cox, a modern day, scientific Little & Large (but funny and informative)
But as /u/PM_ME_YR_PRIORS said, get all the wrong kind of committee contributors together, then throw in a piss poor Morcambe & Wise tribute act with a dubious transexual running around in gold lame... and the crowning turd in the water pipe, let's finish off by completely mangling the Galaxy Song! Give me strength.

The infinite monkey cage is excellent. Check the podcast it's 15 minutes longer than the main broadcast.
Robin Ince did an impression of Brian Blessed on one episode. It had to listen to it many times as it was brilliant.
Can't recommend the podcast enough.

It was pretty awful. Glad I stuck with it to see the Noel Fielding bits, but was very tempted to stop watching after the first 10 minutes.

"Eric Idle persuades Professor Brian Cox to present a lecture on the birth of the entire universe. Brian soon realises Eric is actually hosting a comedy and musical extravaganza with the help of Warwick Davis, Noel Fielding, Hannah Waddingham and Robin Ince, alongside a chorus of singers and dancers."
