Most came from Kickass.to but now they mainly come from RARBG and 1337x.

I also own quite a few of them on Bluray but don't own a disk reader to rip them with.

If the file I end up with is greater than ~4GB in H.264 then I encode it down myself with handbrake.

mind sharing your handbrake settings? specifically looking for the video settings.. I've been trying to encode a 16gb file down to about 4gb but I keep getting in the 6-7 range after multiple attempts. I've been trying to following rokoding settings

The 16GB file could have a lot of noise, which requires more information to display, thus causing the file to be larger than expected. You may want to play around with the denoise filters, or even the deblock filters. Stay away from the "medium" presets and higher though, they soften the image far too much. I find sometimes that the deblock filter works better even if the image isn't blocky.

If it's a relatively clean image, 22 on the Constant Quality slider usually outputs a ~4GB video file for me, with audio at around 448kbps in AAC.

I'll move the slider all the way to 24 if needed to get the filesize down as long as the end result still looks good.
