If you do torrents, BakaBT has the best versions for all resolutions and languages (often REVO or THORA rips) and registration on the tracker is open and easy.

those are good, but you can find even better rips on nyaa, chinese rips of the full jp bluray with every language/sub, got Spirited Away, was like 16Gb.
also, you guys should know the best version are probably the japanese edition, but they made a second one, in the form of a boxset with only Miyazaki's movies, without the extra content from regular bluray, so with more space for the movies themselves, better bitrate.. (boxset came out in the us and australia but the quality is not as good) would love to have a bluray half size rip of those in h265 :D
Nyaa is a bit different, more of a place where you can find just about any rip, while at BakaBT they compare and choose the best quality English and non-English audio rips for each resolution level. They nitpick about every aspect, including the different bluray sources. I remember there being discussion on the color balance of the Ghibli bluray releases for example.

I hear ya, I do use bakabt when I can't find a better source or when I can't find enough seeds, but they certainly not the best, very good would be accurate, imho. (sorry for being annoying about this lol)
Haha. Yeah I guess 'best' is subjective since people are looking for different qualities in a video. To some, the quality of the sub timing/editing/translation is the main focus, while others are concerned about any number of picture issues like amount of grain, artifacts in scenes, crushed blacks, halo or ringing effects, color banding, bitrate, etc. Others may value having certain audio tracks present or getting it down to a small filesize. Hard to make a definitive version that pleases everybody.

Yeah, true^^ for me it would be the closes to BD as possible (jp ghibli BD have most languages dubs and subs too), h265 if possible to have manageable file size, as for the rest, correction when fuckups are obvious like deinterlacing with Cowboy Bebop, useless 720 to 1080p upscales with Gurren Lagann and a lot of other show, lots of stuff : Evangelion (lol)
I go mostly with EG/Sephirotic in those cases. otherwise, Philosophy-Raws, Coalgirls, ReinForce, OnDeed, DHR-Raws, Moozzi2, BunnyHat, Kagura, Raizel, Iznjie Biznjie, 漏勺rip (and get the subs elsewhere if raws)
Agree on the useless upscales, especially for the Bones shows like FMA:Brotherhood. In fact if I remember correctly that one may be even less than 720p originally (people have done analysis on the source to try to find out the true resolution it was mastered at).
Coalgirls is usually good, I recognize a couple of the others you listed too. I'll add that neo1024 (user I know from BakaBT) is a great Ghibli expert. They don't normally do encodes themself, but when they do it's very carefully handled, with cropping, aspect ratio, etc.

Well depends what you define as good ^^ I think I have a comparable release, h265 reencodes from THORA releases of the japanese blurays. the quality/size ratio is definitely good, depends what size you screen is, and if you anal about "grain" (there will be none) and sound definition and if you have a device to hande h265.(it's not that demanding though)
I'd say it's good enough/decent, you looking at x2 the size of those if they were h264.
last thing, probably not relevant to you, but the release I have had the wrong charset for accentuated subs (big issues with french subs for instance)
