Its so frustrating that Netflix monitors this subreddit. Anything that is from Netflix has been taken down by them including the whole sections from the 5tb dump even if some of the programming is not theirs. If you want something that is a Netflix original, you are better off torrenting it (if you want it for free).

I think alot of people moniter this sub now. It seems that all of my Game of Thrones Audiobooks and Tv Show uploads were just taken down recently.
[-] aManPerson | 1 points
ya, over the years HBO is VERY active about taking their stuff down.
[-] [deleted] | 3 points
But this is stuff that been up for over a year and then overnight half of it is down. They seem to be getting more serious about it.
[-] somebitch2 | 22 points
time to move to a sub called /r/notreallymegalinksokfbi
Guess a private sub is the only way to go.
[-] seattlesound21 | 34 points

Word. Would suck if a private sub was created and not advertised so those who missed out are like, "when did this sub die?"
I agree with IgnoreMyName.

[-] [deleted] | 2 points
How does that work?
[-] IgnoreMyName | 15 points
You would need to be invited or let into a private sub. I suppose submitters would have a free entry but would be difficult for those of us who do not upload but only download to gain entry.
I don't think that should be the case at all. We want the basic monitoring from different people who report links/mega accounts to go away, not the downloaders. Also what's the point of uploading when there's no one to download? We're here to share after all.
[-] IgnoreMyName | 1 points
I know, tough call. Either leave as is and uploaders will have to keep uploading or private it for approved Redditors, both uploaders and downloaders.
[-] BoyWhoCrapped | 1 points
I want in, mods. plz
keep me in the loop too mates. It would suck hard if i somehow lost this sub (if it goes private).
I don't know. I literally still see tons of Netflix links still up that are pushing a month or more. So i'm not really sure where OP is getting this "Netflix is monitoring this sub" view from.
not true. All my Luke Cage links have went down in just 2 week or less. I guess that's because of Marvel Studios. They are the most strict in business when it comes to taking action on copyright infringement.
What's not true?
Your luke cage shows might be down, but I can still access Stranger Things, and a host of other Marvel/netflix shows from other links. including from that old 5tb dump that's pushing past 2 months. Which i just checked now, still as an x265 Season 1 Luke Cage up.
[-] TheEvenDarkerKnight | 0 points
I like this idea. I'd feel more comfortable uploading if this sub was private.
I pay for Netflix, but since the start of the year, just doesn't work in my house. Next door is fine, have tried fixing, called support multiple times and get no where. So I just download their shows from here. I don't see as I'm doing anything wrong. I pay for their service still!
[-] DIDNT_READ_YOUR_SHIT | 22 points
service doesnt work
company doesnt help
still pays for it.
Hey bro can I sell you a service too? I won't actually do anything or respond to calls, but you can keep paying me.
Did you ever use a DNS service to get regional netflix or sports?
If you stopped paying for the service (as it no longer works with nflx), you will not be able to use netflix until you change your DNS servers back again.
No, never did. Just some dumb issue. It's weird as it works downstairs on the chromecast. But no where else in the house. I've even taken the chromecast up stairs and it's stopped working. It's not a simple issue like router range as I can stream Youtube 4k anywhere in the house.
damm that sucks if netflix wants people to stop downloading maybe they should make their service better. I mean the us seems to be pretty good but different counties don't get the awesome american shows :/
Thats not always Netflixs fault though. It's the production companies/licence holders who decide what they sell to Netflix and what not. Netflix may get the licence for the US region but not for the EU region.
I don't think there is anything Netflix can do.
People want permanent access to media. Netflix is temporary access at best. Even if you keep your account active, movies and TV shows get pulled all the time due to licensing deals.
You can never match the ability to download a drm free file to keep forever.
[-] heatproofmatt | 2 points
I don't really think they physically monitor this sub. I still see a number of links from Stranger Things still up when checking right now. Like links that are close to a month old now. So I mean, either they're really bad at purging, or they don't actually monitor the subreddit. Even in that 5tb dump i still all the 4k links for Netflix shows up and regular links for Daredevil and Luke cage, etc. So i'm not really sure what you're basing this on.
Also i'm kind of curious how you gathered they're the ones purging media that's not even theres???
Odds are links and what not from here are being shared around the web. Especially those mega dumps, and they're probably being shared in areas where people are reporting them
Remember when people gave Metallica songs weird names on Napster to get around the censors? Why don't guys do that
[-] Probate_Judge | 6 points
I'm fairly certain it's not actively monitored so much as comes up in google easily, and that a firm will do X amount of web-crawling, complile a list, and then anything on that list gets taken down or fought....meaning it comes in waves and some things get missed by happenstance.
It got me thinking. I've seen plugins that replace words or do all sorts of random things with greasemonkey and other similar tools..
I was thinking that we could sort of post in code, say, the actual title is typed backwards, but a plug-in would flip it around for anyone who has it installed.
This would stop a majority of crawlers/googlers as well as the lawfirms hired to send out notices because they're not reading all of this(but may be now) and naturally wouldn't have such an extension downloaded much less enabled.
Just a thought, I've got no technical knowledge/ability aside from a class in Pascal entirely too many years ago and the ability to use a pc to play games, surf for porn, and read and post stuff on reddit. (a bit more than that but you get the idea).
[-] R3a1ityCheque | 2 points
If this moves to private, I'd really like an invite too. :)
Best regards
Mr. Reed Hastings.
I believe if you put them in passworded rar archives and not advertise the content in the filenames, there is little anyone can do to get them taken down.
[-] LordMcQueen | 1 points
Well, damn... :-(
Agreed! Email those interested [Via PRI Suggestions board]. Create a PIN to access, key to DL.
[-] etherylism | 1 points
I think a good solution is to make the decryption keys private and only known with a pm to the op, so it is up to the op to verify who are legitimate people.
[-] kaching335 | 2 points
That is completely absurd.
[-] halolordkiller3 | 1 points
fyi that dump is still up an active
[-] PraiseDannyWoodhead | 1 points
Is this why half a terabyte of my anime uploads received takedown notices in the last day? Fuck.
I guess this sub will just work the way reddit in general does. You grab the stuff that's currently hot and interests you and move on to the next one. Don't expect to find any archival stuff that's still online.
just got a "private page, contact moderators". next thing it works again. I wouldn't like to lose access!
seems to be the only option. but whom do you invite? and who decides that? what circle of trust can be build?
I keep hearing more and more about people having their stuff taken down recently..... Im with making it private as well as switching up names to deal with censors.....
I'm confused but when you upload something, even mega can censor some out as well?
Couldn't you just change the file name/archive and just label the text within the sub what the item is? So mega doesnt erase the file.
if we go invite only I would like an invite please. One of my favorite things about this sub was being able to lurk without an account. Now I have had to make something for this PC.

[-] DIDNT_READ_YOUR_SHIT | -7 points
Well maybe if Netflix adds a source-quality download button, we wouldn't need to go here, duh??
[-] achimba | 194 points | Oct 31 2016 21:32:44
I don't know about making this sub private (invite-only) but I do think that the sub should only be visible to people who are signed in with their reddit account. This sub is currently visible with or without a reddit account, meaning that it is completely public and open. Crawlers and indexers can scrape the content of the sub, which means that it is very easy for anyone to monitor for whatever reasons. Requiring someone to be signed in to reddit to view the sub does not prevent anyone from monitoring the sub but at least it makes it more difficult. I think this would prevent a lot of the industry scripts from discovering content so easily.

Yeah it's weird seeing all these people agreeing with the idea when it's something mods obviously have no control over.
Really, if users want to start tricking the bots, they should just obfuscate the names of titles they're worried about having taken down.

[-] achimba | 6 points | Nov 01 2016 16:01:17
I found a potential solution. Mark the sub as NSFW. Once the sub has been marked as NSFW, the sub will not be visible unless a reddit account is logged in. This also means that the contents of the sub will be hidden from (external) search.

Yeah, I think the page would have the get quarantined by reddit for it to work the way they're saying. Not sure if they will do that on demand, I think they just do it for highly offensive subs that dont break rules.

[-] achimba | 2 points | Nov 01 2016 16:14:53
Nothing stops this. Ever. Even if you have a super tight group of friends and you do not let anyone else into the circle there might always be a way to get in still if you want to try hard enough. (Hack account, phish for credentials, pay them off)
If you want to look for 'whatever' on the web you can run a script to search all over the place for very little investment of resources. If you need to start creating accounts on websites to see what they have on them, then this is a greater barrier of entry. It is no longer free and you have to maintain an account at such a website.
A dedicated scanner will perform the extra steps to create an account to target specific places they think are more likely to have what they are looking for. You can never stop this, even by the most secure private scheme you can think of.
The goal is to make it one step harder. You have to sign up for a reddit account. You have to be logged in.
