I don't think you could design a more unfriendly system if you were actively trying to do it. Mega is ridiculous. For the longest time I resisted installing anything but recently something I wanted would only be retrievable if I signed up and installed megasync.
Ok, fine, let's do that. And it worked.
And nothing since then. I don't want the browser extension, but there are no 'download using megasync' links.
And to top it off for asinine and idiotic I'm logged in on all these pages so mega, if they had any foresight and cleverness at all, should know I have megasync and could get it that way.
Yeah yeah it's free but so is dog shit.

The thing is, the only reason I got it was because a) there was a 'download with megasync' link and b) the explanation of the link was "if megasync is running, links like this will automatically start downloading in your megasync when you click them!" (paraphrased) so I was like.. "Sure, ok, fine."
And now I never see those links any more. I'll use reaver's suggestion of importing to my cloud storage and moving it out of the local area when it syncs.

What does jdownloader do?

I've found that the download with megasync option only shows up if the person has linked to a single file. If they've linked to a folder, then the option doesn't show up for the folder nor any of the files inside it.

I just use it in browser in chrome unless i'm doing really large files or a directory. For some reason megasync caps my DLs at 2MB/s whereas in browser i can get up to 8MB/s on a good day.

It works nicely if you pay for storage space. I just import a bunch of things into my cloud, let megasync download it all, and then move it out of the megasync folder clearing it out of my cloud so I can add more things later.

Maybe I'll try this way. It's just bizarre that I had to get this to directly download something, and one of the blurbs was "with megasync links, if megasync is running it will automatically start downloading when you click!" (paraphrased) and now I never get those links.

It's true that you may occasionally not get those links, but trust me when I say they exist. I actually like using their program more since I don't need to keep chrome open as I download. Also, I believe it only allows you to download through the program if the link only has one file within it. I've never seen it work with foldered links, but you can right click those and send them to your megasync cloud folder and delete/move them when you're done.

Someone else offered the 'only if it's a single file' explanation and I think the two of you are right.
I don't have anything against the program other than the lack of those links. Even if it's a multi-file collection, they could offer a download through mega link. Put it in a new folder consecutively numbered, or numbered based on the date, or ask, or whatever.

I do what this guy does. Also if you leave your pc on all the time, and you have the mega app on your phone; you can add stuff to your cloud anywhere, and your pc will download it while you're away. its very convenient. not to sound like a shill.

yeah. It really only does that for like archive file links or single file links, and since most of the links on here are for folders, it doesn't work.

Hope that helps somebody else. I am currently happy using MegaSync for everything.
