As someone who's heard of Fraiser but never seen it (11 seasons looks too daunting to start and I'm the kind of person who compulsively needs to finish series once started), can someone tell me why they like it? What made it famous?

It's a spinoff from Cheers involving the character Frasier Crane moving to Seattle, where he's the host of a psychology talk radio show (people call in with their problems and he dispenses advice). The show explores his relationships with his father, Marty, a crusty blue-collar retired cop; his fussy brother, Niles, a psychiatrist; Marty's physical therapist, Daphne; and Frasier's producer, Roz. The comedy is very much in the same vein as Cheers, if slightly more intellectual. The show was also famous for a who's who of Hollywood celebrities who provided the voices of the callers of Frasier's radio show.
