Very strange aspect ratio for sure. Not sure how someone with a modern video camera would even shoot a square frame like that.

Probably got fucked up by the recorder on his comp trying to make something decent of it. You can easily 'fix' this by watching it with VLC with forced AR on 16:9 instead of automatic.
