It's one of the most critically acclaimed series ever made. It's not like most series that offer instant gratification each episode so expect to be in it for the long haul for the pay off.

I've seen The Wire about 9 times now.

So my opinion may be a bit skewed.

However great character development. 2nd season in my opinion is the worst. but it is also at the same time very needed. I'm going to watch it again. lol

Possibly. At exactly which times in each video is it happening? You may want to try a different video player like MPC-HC. Windows Media Player isn't as efficient as MPC-HC when decoding video, so your CPU could be under load and unable to decode the video properly at certain parts.

It's definitely the files themselves then. I didn't encode them myself so I don't have a source to re-encode them from, unfortunately.
