Since a few days Mega has limited my download bandwidth to a 7GB every 6 hours, how do I fix/circumvent this?I've tried restarting my router and deleting cookies but this didn't work.
EDIT: I installed Cyber Ghost (free VPN, no data caps that I'm aware of, getting around 2MB/s) and now it works again.

Use MegaDownloader.
I have the same problem. I can't download anything. I immediately get the bandwidth quota exceeded message but I don't have an account. Did also restart router, cleared cache/cookies, tried mega download tools etc
What works for me now is using a vpn chrome extension

Are you from Germany by any chance?
Yes, I use Unitymedia.

Yea I have exactly the same problem! Also from Germany. I wonder what it is? Never had a problem like this before.

You need a vpn or proxy, most likely mega stops people based on ip address, so you need to change that
I have this problem too, and once i wait out the 5 hours, the download just restarts and doesn't even resume. Do you know how to fix it without downloading anything?

Does Cyber Ghost still work for you, because it's telling me that the file is too large for incognito. (The file is only 1GB)
So do we have a monthly download limit now or not? Because I am from germany and I have to wait for like 6h for the next download. So if i have two restrictions then im gonna be pissed.
No you aren't the only ones. I'm from Spain and I'm facing the same problem from several months ago. I still didn't figured out how to solve it.
guys do you know some free vpn client able to work through an HTTP proxy? I live in Cuba and I'm trying to install Rise of the tomb raider and since all of my connections are controlled by an HTTP Proxy i can't get steam to work. BTW answering to the post I use Ultrasurf and I've never reached that limit you guys talk about.

I can't help you with this but Rise of the Tomb Raider was posted here a few days ago (cracked version). Maybe this will help you bc you don't need Steam for it.

I haven't checked out Tomb Raider specifically, but you definitely need a steam account for the denuvo games. It's more of a work around than a crack. Worth mentioning it shouldn't be an account you care about.
I downloaded it and it needs steam to run, it's part of the cracking process

Ok, TIL. Sorry, then I have no idea.

Don't download directly from your drive, link what you want to download then download from that link it doesn't count against your monthly mega BW limit that way.

I'm not quite sure what you mean. I don't download directly from my drive, MEGA limits me when I use one of your links for example.

It's definitely not Mega limiting you I download gigs & gigs & gigs everyday from mega for years & I have NEVER had a BW issue

This is the message I get every time I try to download anything from MEGA, be it external links from here or my own drive.
It says that my IP has been downloading too much (at least 2TB this year).
I guess it's time to get a VPN.

Give this a try I read that it may work:

I read about it here:

I've already tried it, didn't work and I'm not a fan of hola anyways since the whole botnet story.
Thanks for you help though.

I guess the rules must vary from country to country, where are you Germany?

By the way, I'm also from Germany, so this seems to be region specific. Can't for the life of me imagine why they'd pick Germany.

I installed Cyber Ghost and now it works. I'm getting decent speed (2MB/s), too.

Yep, it seems that German users are limited quite often. I found a comment by /u/Vepanion on here where he describes the same problem.

Germany is probably just the start for this. I'm pretty sure MEGA will roll out this bandwidth limit out to other regions soon.

Do you have a static IP? Is that just standard for average consumers in your country?
I don't see how restarting your router wouldn't circumvent their IP logging.

I made further tests and I have to disconnect the router for about 5-10min to get a new IP. However I can't do this because my little brother flips his shit when I'm constantly disconnecting the internet while he plays CS:GO.

It should completely reset the counter, so you should be able to go from 0 to the bandwidth limit before you have to change your IP.
If that's not the case, then they are recognizing you with another method, probably as a back up. I would guess this would have to be a cookie.
If I were you I would try resetting your IP again, and while that is happening, deleting all your cookies. You could try just deleting ones that are obviously associated with mega, but they might have a sneaky one that doesn't share the name or domain so deleting all cookies would be best imo.

The peroblem is this: Every German user on here seems to only get 5-7GB per 6 hours. Resetting doesn't do anything because MEGA only checks your IP at the beginning of the download. So if you download a 10GB file you're fucked even if you reset because MEGA thinks you're still using your orginial IP. One way around it is only downloading .rar archives that have been split up into multiple pieces, this way I can gauge how many of them I can download before I have to reset.
I'm going to get a VPN, this seems to be the only way around it.

Interesting. A couple ideas:
Use a service like the browser extension DownThemAll which itself can split up downloads, so you can partition it to allow you to reset your IP right before the bandwidth limit to download without completely resetting progress.
Or, instead of a VPN, you could consider just using public (free) SOCKS5 proxies. I would never use a public proxy to log in to anything, since they could steal your info, but it is reasonably safe to download over one. I have heard of exploits where a proxy could modify the file you are downloading, so it isn't completely safe, but it's negligible IMO and what I was doing for a while at a certain point.
Anyways best of luck.
