Fight Club

This would be among and the leading example of movies that I'd list which are mostly sleeper hits or cult classics, a bit off the beaten path as it were or just under appreciated overall. All in all, some really good technical stuff, and a lot of movies that make you think. It's a short list, plenty I can't recall the names of right off.

Donnie Darko (a lot of really good film making techniques went on here)

Ink (predictable but still a well done movie)

Nightmare Before Christmas (it's getting old enough not everyone's seen it and it get's passed off as a kid's movie)

All Stanley Kubrik movies + A.I. (artificial intelligence)

Butterfly Effect (Probably the only time I'd admit to anything good with Ashton)

Series 7: The Contenders (2001) [A sort of B movie, but what it deals with is kinda cool]

Dark City (already mentioned on this page, but well worth it)

Strange Days

Kinsey, The Experiment, and Experimenter (2015) (All taken from real life, stories of phsychological studies/breakthrus or the people behind them)

Predestination is so frustrating. It's one of the most shockingly predictable movies I've ever seen yet it plays everything up to 11 in the most obnoxious way.

Don't want to be pedantic, but it's spelled Rashomon, just in case people take your good advice and look for that outstanding film :)
