First of all, no. There's no middleman when you d/l from MEGA unlike torrents.

Also there's a good chance he didn't need to pay $200. It's called copyright trolling. I actually got an email a couple of years ago from d/l-ing and they demanded way more than that. Ignored it and just used a VPN for torrents from then on:)

From what I know you cannot get a fine from downloading movies, but when you are using a torrent you also upload the videos to other people using the torrent, which is illegal. You should be fine downloading from MEGA.

I used to work at an ISP and we'd get 100's of emails a day saying specific customer with so and so IP had downloaded specific movie on this date. We deleted them.

i've gotten many letters over the years from torrent dloads. when i get them, i just stop torrents for a few months. anymore, everything is on here anyway. i was using peer gaurdian, but seems to not help anymore. better to just stay w/ mega, yourserie, or icefilms.
