When I tried downloading a file yesterday, it stopped after about 80 mb and showed this warning. This is the first time it happened to me. I tried downloading that file today and again it stopped after about 80 mb. I had last downloaded something from mega a week ago.

"Bandwidth quota exceeded" warning shows up when your files storage exceeds the storage available in your plan (which is 50 Gb if it's a free plan). If you're downloading from megasnc make sure your cloud storage has free space equivalent to the file you're downloading.
I never had an account on mega before. Is having an account now mandatory?

no..not mandatory.. but who denies free online storage of 50 Gb?

just clear your cookies and you can start downloading again. do that before you download over 10gb though, else you have to repeat the download
Tried different browser, getting same warning
Download Opera, get the tunnel bear free VPN (its not a real vpn, just a proxy) and it will work

as i said, go into cookies and delet them for mega. if you use chrome, go to setting/cookies and search for mega, and delete that. restart browser and download

As it says quota exceeded for your IP I'm going to assume that none of the methods already given will work because it's not a cookie issue it's your IP address.
I believe that it's possible to reset your IP address so you won't have the same issue by turning the router off and then back on again a few minutes later.

Actually, your local network IP will probably remain the same even after you restart your router (it will depend on the order in which the devices that are connected to your router). Your public IP will however most likely change. Most ISPs use Dynamic IP address. Static IP addresses costs premium. Still your public IP may not change every time you restart your router if your ISP uses a sticky dynamic IP address.
