May I ask where you sourced this from? I'd love to be able to find x265 releases more quickly on the night shows air.
[-] kingleothemediocre | 2 points
It's a PSA reencode, but the source was an EXCLUSIVE release

Oh, wow. PSA was quick to get this one reencoded. I stopped checking with him since it was taking him till the next day for a minute there! He rocks, i am a big fan of his work! :)

That's fantastic quality. Can you possibly tell me about the compression you've used on the video to get it down to this super tiny size? It will literally be the secret that lets me have the cake and eat it too!

Not sure about PSA, but here's a post by JoyBell on kat.cr explaining how they encode their releases. A tool called HandBrake is used for the encoding.
[-] kingleothemediocre | 2 points
I didn't reencode it myself, but x265 is a codec that ensures higher quality with lower file sizes. If you have a program like Handbrake or ffmpeg, you can select x265. I have done it before, and it takes a long time to reencode, but you do get the benefit of very small file sizes. The time to reencode may be why not as many releases are encoded this way.
[-] tiddlydumdum | 2 points
This is education to me. Downloaded Handbrake and trying the x265 codec right now.

How long did it exactly take to re-encode it? Cause that's beautiful quality. Very close to a x264 @ 1GB.
[-] pootsounds | 1 points
I'm working through all the MacGyver Episodes now, and each one is taking some where around 4-5 hours for the encode. This is from DVD rips so not sure if it's quicker when going from x264 to x265. I'm using settings that I've found recommended from a few different sources.
[-] tiddlydumdum | 1 points
Can you post the settings you use? Are they optimal?

anybody have a magnet link? This isn't working for me for some reason.
anyone have an mp4 download? it would make my life a lot easier!
[-] MisterScalawag | 2 points
why? just get a quality media player
i need to be able to trim the clips and upload them to photoshop for giffing purposes, mkv isn't supported through the import video frames to layers function. i've been downloading them then converting to mp4 using handbrake, but it's a pain and it takes a while.
What are you using to view videos? I recommend potplayer since IIRC it has an ability to capture frames on videos, basically making it easier to make tumblr gifs.
