how did you come across this file? :O Japanese capboxes?
[-] indigo6alpha | 2 points
No, it was up on RARBG.to. I don't think this is a SCENE release though. Coz SCENE only allows MKV.
[-] MrNoobster | 1 points
yeah, it's a .ts file. Actual uncompressed record from TV directly.
Scene releases encode this to mkv.
I know some folks who do that for Anime which is what english fansubbers use.

Be thankful indigo6Alpha took his time to upload this, theres also a [smaller] (https://mega.co.nz/#!r0VBRSoT!ez8HoC-LS4m9lFh1aQy-5TZahYFX6dGG6IQVslELul4) version he uploaded which might work for you
edit; noticed that the above comment wasnt pretty helpful, well i suggest you download and install [this] (https://board.jdownloader.org/showthread.php?t=54725), and download mega links through that. it shouldnt mess up even if your connection suddenly disconnects

1080i is less than 720p, for people that are not aware.
No, it's really not. The show is mastered and edited in a higher resolution than 1080p, which means that there is plenty of >720p detail in the end result.
The 1080i airing on TV is a telecined version of a downscale from original resolution -> 1080p. To obtain the original 1080p, you have to IVTC the 1080i60 because the show was done in 24fps. This is usually not perfect with the automated IVTC filters that release groups use, so you have to catch those 0.1% that screw up and fix them for a proper release.
Finally, it is literally impossible in terms of how lossy compression works to obtain anything better than the source from a transcode. The 720p HDTV rips are made from this TS, because short of something like DIMENSION access, this is the definitive source for HDTV rips.

IIRC 1080i is 1080p but with half the pixels vertically, i.e. its half the resolution of 1080p
720p=1280x720=0.92MP
1080i=1920x1080x0.5=1.037MP
1080p=1920x1080=2.074MP
So still more pixels than 720p

It's a .ts file guys, not .mkv, but it plays in VLC.

What's with the audio pitch? It's a little higher pitched than the actual audio

It's 1080i50, it's sped-up from 24fps to 25fps, higher-pitched music and voices, shorter runtime. Also means most subs will be out of sync.
