Mega.co.nz has an official Chrome extension:

After installing it for Chrome my download speed increased from 1 - 1.5 mb/s to about 2.5 mb/s. If you don't have it installed already, you should. Normally I don't install unnecessary extensions, but this one actually saves you some wait.

And jdownloader allows me the exact same speed and I can stop and restart downloads whenever I want. Plus you can use it an nearly every other download site too. Fuck the stupid extension.
