So when I downloaded it VLC shows an error saying it doesn't support an audio or video file type undef and only the audio plays. Do I need to convert the file or did it get corrupted when uploading?

No, neither. You need the latest version of VLC to play this file, since it has x265 video encoding. Sorry, should've mentioned that.
