What codec do I need to play 1080p .rar files with VLC? I can't find it. All I'm finding is nonsense about an archive but I doubt that means anything. Who is stupid enough to upload an archive so I have to download it, extract it, then upload the relevant file?

Get WinRAR and extract it, what's inside is likely an MP4 file.

VLC has all codecs with it. Play the filename.rar.part file and not filename.rar if it hasn't finished downloading yet.
