HEVC

you wouldn’t recommend some tutorial to convert to HEVC format would you I have quite the collection of videos I could save quite a lot of space.

I have never dealt with video encoding btw (I'm on linux)

EDIT: VLC does not play it

mplayer as well

mpv however plays it perfectly

FYI: As far as I can tell, XBMC can't play HEVC files. They are great with VLC, but some people playing from a NAS might have problems with the format.

When I open with VLC 2.2.1, it plays the audio but the video freezes and won't play. Is my computer just too slow or what? Update: I was able to open it with the mpv player (though it is a bit jittery at times--memory issues I think; at least that's resolvable). Ta for sharing.
