Not really, because they intentionally made it unpleasant and disgusting. It's definitely pushing boundaries, but I think you missed the point a little. I mean, check out this line from wikipedia, "Nymphomaniac is the third and final installment in von Trier's unofficially titled Depression Trilogy".
It's definitely not a mainstream film, it's not for everybody, and viewers who were expecting either straight-up porn or a popcorn drama are both going to be disappointed. But I think that's a decision the director consciously made from the very beginning.

Warning everybody, seriously, I'm not kidding, there's a boobie in this movie. And I don't just mean it's in clothes, I mean it's totally naked. Don't watch this if you have a problem with that.
