For the best experience I would recommend you watch the movie after episode 22-23 in the series. The series is absolutely amazing!

I wouldn't say it's necessary. It's not directly linked to any event in the anime, but it would definitely help if you already knew a bit of their characters. That being said, the movie is the first material I ever saw from this show, and it's what got me hooked.

Much better video and sound quality. Also, this one is easier to play on a variety of devices since it's x264 10bit instead of x265 10bit.
