[META] Is it worth it to pay for mega? | Megalinks MegaDB [META] Is it worth it to pay for mega?

I currently have the 50gb free account, I use megadownloader and just import it, download and delete. Would it be worth it to pay for mega for the more space?

Not for me. I use the same method. If the source is too big I just get it from original link w/o importing.

Some people, probably incorrectly, believe that importing content is less likely to be deleted if the original is discovered.

Wut, how you do dis? I signed up for a month just to download without having to wait like 8 hours to download another 4gb, lol.

Megadownloader isn't restrictive with how much you download. I've done hundreds of gigabytes at once with no problem.

Oh nice, I've just been downloading through browser, lol. Do you even need an account with megadownloader?

I think he means that some folks import files to their mega account to help ensure that if the original link goes away, they can complete the download. I do this as well sometimes. Not sure that it helps since there are reports of imported content being deleted.

Importing doesn't mean that you are guaranteed those files. They will get taken down if the original is removed as well.

yea, imported content gets deleted if the original is flagged. they probably flag the crc.

The only benefit would be if you want to use the official mega tools for some reason, as they respect the bandwidth limits while the unofficial tools do not. Or if you genuinely want to use them to store shit. I honestly would not recommend the later. Considering who owns and operates mega now, I wouldn't take their promise of data privacy seriously.

It is for me, but I use it for storage backup along with their mac app. It's cheap and the space is good.

If you are just downloading, then no.

What is /r/megalinks consensus on JDownloader? Preferred over Megadownloader?

permalink

[-] 0x99CCFF | 1 points | Mar 03 2017 20:56:28

jdownloader is riddled with adware/malware.

adware is shit as well, stop trying to justify it. a google search will show anyone interested in reading up on it.

With Kimble being served to the US justice, I wouldn't do it. Guy has a history of selling out people to save his ass ;)
