[META] What is a good comic book reader these days? | Megalinks MegaDB [META] What is a good comic book reader these days?

Hey, after all the comic submissions I'm finally intrigued and want to read some. I remember trying some programs years ago, but they weren't all that great. I'd prefer a reader where I don't really have to scroll and zoom and whatnot. I decided to ask the guys who seem to be experts, because they upload them every day. What do you use? I would probably read them on my desktop pc, maybe on my notebook as well. How do you read them? Tablet?

Update: Thanks for all the suggestions, will check them out!
Update 2: I tried CDisplayEX and it's perfect for me on Desktop and Laptop. Thank you very much!

I use the free version of ComicRack on my tablet.

I use ComicRack free on PC and paid version on my Android devices. It has a sync feature which is nice. If I read a comic on my PC I can sync it to my tablet or phone. Paid for the Android version using credits from the Google Opinion Rewards app.

This is my method also. I have smart lists created for Marvel and DC published after a certain date. I use inclusions and exclusions to limit them to what I intend to read, and to remove comics I've read. I also have a smart list starting with 1961. As I add and read comics, I synchronize and my selection updates automatically. It was well-worth the purchase price for the iPad app. Now I just need to work through the tens of thousands of comics a little faster.

Same here. Also use ComicRack on PC and iPad. The geek in me just loves collecting and organising digital files, so ComicRack is great with the the ComicVine Scraper and the Data Manager. But now I have the same problem as you do since I overdid the collecting a bit after getting a new HDD. I calculated that I need around 10 minutes on average to finish a comic, so it'll take me 208 days of non-stop reading to finish my some 30k comics.

I second ComiCat. I found perfect view to be too messy and complicated. I'd go to change the page and open up the setting menu. Just messy.

If you're not feeling like paying the cashola for ComiCat, there's always Astonishing Comic Reader. The reading works a lot like Comixology app, with the sliding pages and the like.

Comic book files (CBR & CBZ) are just compressed RAR files. I usually extract the pics into a folder and read them with the windows photo viewer.

On Android, I use the App EBookDroid for CBR, CBZ, PDF, ePub, mobi. Once you play with the settings it becomes really nice.

I use a Windows surface for my comics and use cover. It keeps a read history, is perfect for touch screen and i have had no performance issues.

The free version only lets you keep 25 comics in your library at once, but the unlocks are relatively cheap.
