Mods should make this sub private then, approve members by making them send a simple message to the mods. I don't think the admins would care unless we get a DMCA Takedown notice. And the DMCA trolls won't find us using any webcrawlers. Or even simply marking all the posts as NSFW would thwart them (to some extent).

Lots of people use torrents from lots of different torrent hosting sites, but this is a specific sub for an individual file sharing service.

There's no concept of DMCA takedowns in P2P. Sure, they can target the torrent hosting sites like kat.cr or piratebay, but the actual file(s) will remain available as long as someone is seeding it. Whereas MEGA responds to DMCA requests. The copyright trolls can copy the link right off this sub and report it directly to the entity which is actually hosting it. That IMO, is the stark difference between the two subs.

But whether the reddit content policy will recognize that difference or not, that's a whole other matter. Does anyone know the exact reason why the sub was banned? It has been around for a while now, so what triggered it?

mega belongs to new zealand a 5 eyes country so it's a huge honey pot for nsa & mcaa, and when you download from mega they know your ip unless you use a vpn, so why shut down a great source of copyright liability leads for their lawyers to sue and collect from? let's assume for a moment that mega's encryption has not been known/broken by it's new owners (unlikely) then this sub provides them a content index so they know exactly which files to monitor.

MEGA was taken over by some Chinese felon and is part of the 5 eyes. Yes they have great speeds but there must be something safer and more anonymous.
